Horticulture - Terrace, British Columbia

Here are some more "Lucky Bamboo" treatments.

The unique vase is again the work of a favourite local artist and architect, Dan Condon, and was bought at the Terrace Art Gallery located in the library building, Terrace.

The growing medium in the vase is vermiculite, which supports the Dracena Sanderiana stalks, keeping them upright. Water and a light feeding of slow release fertilizer keeps the display healthy.

The display to the right, in the white container, is anchored in soil. Contrary to many instructions, the plants do very well in soil as long as they are supplied adequate water and a small amount of food.

The elegant shadows cast from these plantings give a "Japanese" flavour to your decor.
